Going to Serve

We grow in relationship and grow in Christ when we serve our siblings in our community and in the world.

Mission and Outreach is one way we bring God’s love to the world. There are different ways to be involved: plan and organize ministry; participate in ministry; provide resources for ministry.

Ecumenical Partnership for Housing (EPH): On August 11, 2014 Bethel became a partner church with Ecumenical Partnership for Housing (EPH). EPH is addressing the problem of safe and affordable housing through its “Pathway to Self-sufficiency” strategy. Bethel has been assigned to Upper Luke home. An EPH partner church is responsible to get a house ready for new tenants. The average is two move outs per year with cleaning inside after each move. The responsibility of the partner church not only includes preparing the house for the new family but providing a box of food staples, a welcome meal to the new family moving in, cutting the grass and shoveling snow.

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC): Bethel is one of twelve partner churches that work together to be a part of the hunger solution by hosting a Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack each October. Approximately 6200 children die each day related to experiencing hunger. During the Mobile Pack volunteers prepare rice pack meals during two-hour shifts. In October, 2019, 3,000 volunteers packed 3/4 of a million meals. At the end of each pack, volunteers pray over the meals that were packed which are then sent throughout the world.

Special Collections: Throughout the year, we take up special collections of resources (sometimes financial, sometimes not) to support ministries locally, nationally and worldwide. These are things like Hat and Mittens, Non-perishable Food Items for Resurrection Food Pantry, NEW Shelter Meal, St. John’s Homeless Shelter, Salvation Army Senior Lunch Meal, Simple Gifts (coins) for Eye Heart World, Little Free Library, etc.
